5.0 out of 5 stars--Never Underestimate the Strength of a Hapenny

I enjoyed this enchanting tale immensely. It follows Maewyn Bridgepost, the smallest Hapenny of them all, who discovers she can wield magic. She soon finds herself in the company of a pair of wizards and on an adventure of a lifetime.

Just like the fairy tales of old, Hapenny Magick doesn't glance over the darker elements of the story. The author strikes just the right balance between whimsy and villainy as the tale unfolds and it all ends with a satisfying conclusion. The illustrations are lovely too and they capture the essence of the book at a glance.

Full of whimsy and wonder, this novel is perfect for any lover of fantasy––young or old.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It’s a sweet story of finding courage within yourself to face the things you need to. The book itself is beautiful. The illustrations are gorgeous, and they’re placed beautifully so that some plot points are revealed visually rather than textually. This is one book I’d choose hardcopy over ebook if only for that reason. This is a book that’s been illustrated, not a book that happens to have illustrations. My 12yo daughter loved it. She read it in two days, staying up way too late on the last night---but she just couldn't put it down! I humored her, and I don't regret it. I have fond memories of the books I just had to finish, and I'm glad this will be one of those books for my girl.
